Models and Mud: Deploying Tripods!

Posted for Monday, 24

Tripods: noun, plural: three legged metal frames to which instruments are attached. The tripods sit on the ocean floor measuring water and seabed properties.

We put 3 tripods in water today. The crew minus Joey and me (who met everyone is Gisborne), picked up the three tripods on their way in. Since Thursday, they have been cleaning the tripods, replacing batteries, fixing damaged instruments (sea water, fishermen, and storms can harm tripods), and getting the tripods ready to deploy again.

And despite high waves, three tripods are now successfully deployed!
